The options for dental work has expanded to many avenues that can easily fit any individual’s needs and wants. From wisdom teeth extraction to full dental implants, oral doctors have the tools and necessary know-how to help you find the smile you want. So, what kind of smile do you want?

Rid Yourself of Wisdom Teeth

Your first step to a better smile is removing any wisdom teeth you might not have had removed for one reason or another. The longer they live in your mouth, the more they will cause issues. You can experience impacted teeth, usually from wisdom teeth. This is when teeth don’t have room to pop out and end up creating development issues; wisdom teeth are notorious for being impacted.

Considering it is a common procedure, the sooner the better. The procedure is usually outpatient, and as many as 5 million Americans will have wisdom teeth removed every year.

The Magic of Dental Implants

Fake teeth have always been a staple in a dentist’s arsenal of dental tools. However, a popular method that continues to rise is dental implants. And no, not dentures.

Dentures and dental implants have one major difference and that is how they are implemented. Dentures are usually full sets of teeth for the top of your mouth and the bottom. Every tooth is removed from an individual’s mouth to make room for the dentures because the dentures have to be placed over the gums of the mouth, and then held in place by denture paste. It is not permanent.

As for dental implants, they are exactly how it sounds: teeth that are implanted into your gums. The procedure involves placing a base, of sorts–something for the fake tooth to attach itself to–into an individual’s gums. With the base in place, a tooth can be tightened to the base. Any replacement teeth needed can be removed from the base and a new one can take its place, without removing the entire base.

However, there exists a hybrid of sorts, between dentures and implants known as full dental implants. Rather than have a single base for one tooth, several bases are implanted to support a set of teeth, like dentures.

If you are considering full dental implants, or dental implants in general, then you should know that dental implants are incredibly successful with a 98 percent success rate. Not to mention individuals with dental implants is reaching 3 million with every year growing by 500,000.
